Preventive Care by Telemedicine

March 23, 2020 | Updated April 06, 2020

This is a new temporary/ emergency payment policy for Preventive Medicine by Telehealth. This new policy supplements the existing Payment Policy for Telemedicine on a temporary/emergency basis and has been implemented in the context of the coronavirus pandemic and in an effort to improve social distancing.

5/1/2020 Update (retro to 3/13/2020):

Originally, the policy said that we would cover preventive services delivered via telemedicine for established patients over the age of 2. This revision removes the restrictions of “established patient”  and also allows preventive visits for babies (with an in-person component to be performed for all preventive services later but especially for those delivered to those under the age of 2).
