The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Vermont Department of Health (VDH) are closely monitoring an outbreak of the Coronavirus respiratory illness (officially called "2019-Novel Coronavirus" or "COVID-19"). Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (Blue Cross) is prepared to help you and provide information about health insurance coverage. Health Insurance Coverage Blue Cross insurance benefits cover COVID-19 testing performed by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Vermont Department of Health (VDH), or a laboratory approved by CDC or VDH, with no co-payment, coinsurance, or deductible requirements. This coverage includes provider office or urgent care visits, and emergency services visit to test for COVID-19. Telemedicine Blue Cross offer telemedicine services through American Well (Amwell), which is often a faster, more convenient way to see a health care provider. Amwell has established a Telehealth Response Program to support the use of telehealth as an initial COVID-19 screening tool, which includes an always-on-call infection control officer. Visit to register or download the Amwell app onto your phone or tablet to access this service. Prescriptions Prescription may be accessed through your pharmacy, or the Express Scripts mail order service at 802-493-1947 or for home delivery of medications. As a precaution, members may want to consider filling a 90-day supply of essential maintenance medications.
