You have unique health care needs that change over the course of your lifetime. Engaging in healthy behaviors, like regular check-ups with your doctor and age-appropriate preventive screenings, will help prevent and manage the many health conditions that can affect you.
Screenings are tests that look for diseases before you have symptoms. Blood pressure checks and tests for high cholesterol are examples of screenings. The U.S. Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) recommends the following screenings:
- Breast cancer mammography for women over age 40
- Cervical cancer pap test
- Osteoporosis screening for women age 60 and older, depending on risk factors
- Blood pressure screening
- Cholesterol screening for women age 45 and older and younger adults at higher risk
- Diabetes screening for Type 2 diabetes for adults with high blood pressure
- HIV and sexually transmitted infection screenings for adults at higher risk

- Alcohol misuse
- Depression
- Tobacco cessation
- Healthy diet
- Weight loss
