Vermont Mountain Days
Many of the programs we develop or support come out of our statewide community advisory boards. These groups of committed health-minded Vermonters support health promotion and education in the areas of the state in which they live.
One such long-standing celebration spearheaded by our Windham County Community Advisory Board is our annual Mountain Day, which started in 2000. Each year, hundreds of Vermonters convene to hike up Mt. Wantastiquet, near Brattleboro. The first 100 attendees receive a free Mountain Day T-shirt and a healthy lunch.
The success of our first Mountain Day led us to expand our effort to other communities, and in 2014, we held our first ever Mountain Day at Mt. Philo in Charlotte. Families and individuals met to enjoy the natural beauty of the setting and revel in outdoor exercise.
