Working in the data management department, the business analyst is responsible for providing business and systems analytical subject matter expertise in support of IT department initiatives. This includes development of business requirements, related business rules and analysis of process, systems, data and procedures in order to meet the technology and process needs of assigned projects or other work efforts.
Provides subject matter expertise regarding the business area’s issues, data challenges, process, policy and general needs required to operate current and future business at BCBSVT.
Provides data analysis and reporting using reporting applications (MS Access, Crystal Reports or Data Warehouse reporting applications) to support project requirements and analysis of data.
Understands and identifies cross functional business area impacts and coordinates across business units to ensure issues and requirements are thoroughly defined.
Identifies business area’s strengths and weaknesses and suggests areas of improvement.
Documents, reviews and edits business requirements, business rules, specifications, business processes and recommendations related to proposed solution.
Evaluates vendor application solutions when appropriate to ensure current and future business needs are met.
Works jointly with technical resources to create and review functional and technical design documents to meet business needs.
Understands the current technology applications used at BCBSVT to support assigned Business Area or function. Understands how current systems store data and apply business rules to support the BCBSVT business
Participates as an active member of project teams or work groups to provide business analysis and subject matter expertise for proposed solutions.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in business analysis
experience in health care or health insurance
planning and managing projects
BA/BS in Business.
