Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Recognized for Outstanding Service to Federal Employees
BERLIN, VT – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) received the 2011 “Best of Blue Vase” Award at a recent national conference in recognition of its outstanding service to members of a federal employee benefits program.
The coveted award distinguishes Blue Plans that deliver outstanding customer service and internal operations while also achieving excellent performance ratings for finance and strategic growth measures. The award was presented at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association 2012 FEP National Conference for Plan Excellence in June.
BCBSVT was also recognized at the conference for its continued commitment to member services by achieving 113 out of 120 points on a service performance index, the highest score ever achieved by the Plan.
The award recognizes the Vermont Plan’s contribution to the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association’s Federal Employee Program (FEP), the largest privately underwritten health insurance contract in the world. Approximately 61 percent of all federal employees and retirees who receive their health care benefits through the government’s Federal Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) are members of the BCBSA program – receiving coverage through their local Blue Plans.
“We are thrilled to be recognized for our service,” noted Doug Warren, BCBSVT vice-president of operations. “This award affirms our belief that our emphasis on service performance and member satisfaction for the more than 14,000 federal employees, retirees and their families who live in Vermont has contributed to the success of the FEP program nationally.”
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is the state’s oldest and largest health insurer, providing coverage for about 180,000 Vermonters. It employs about 340 Vermonters at its headquarters in Berlin and branch office in South Burlington, and offers group and individual health plans.
