Berlin, Vt. – Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont (BCBSVT) announced today that two new free web-based tools are now available to members to help them manage their health care while on the go.

The mobile touch applications will allow smart phone users to locate contracting Blue providers anywhere in the country through the Blue National Doctor & Hospital Finder and aid prescription management through Express Rx.

Members and guests can quickly find a hospital, urgent care center or locate a contracting Blue provider through a free Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod touch application. The application enables a nationwide search for a health care provider by specialty and name. It also features GPS navigation search, map links, e-mail, SMA and “click to call” which allows you to dial a phone number with one tap on the phone screen.

A mobile application for Android, Blackberry and other smart phone users will become available in the coming months. In the meantime, those users may access a mobile-optimized provider finder website at www.BCBSVT.com.

BCBSVT members using Apple or Android devices can also download an application developed by the Plan’s pharmacy benefit manager, Express Scripts, to conveniently manage their prescription drug benefits. Members using other devices, including Blackberry, can access a mobile-optimized website. The application and mobile-optimized website allow members to order refills, check order status, look up drug information, and sign up for home delivery from the Express Scripts Pharmacy on their smart phones. The Express Rx application will direct members using GPS-enabled smart phones to the closest retail pharmacy in their network.
