Brattleboro, VT – The 11th Annual Mountain Day at Mt. Wantastiquet will take place on May 7th from 10am to 3pm. In the case of inclement weather the event will take place the following Saturday May 14th. This event, which has become a Mother’s Day weekend tradition for many families, is sponsored by the Windham County Community Advisory Board of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont.
Participants can chose to make the hike up Mt. Wantastiquet or enjoy a lovely riverside walk. There will be free T-shirts, raffle prizes, and popsicles. The hikers will also be provided a free picnic of sandwiches, trail mix, water and apples – thanks to Green Mountain Orchard, Leader Beverage and Subway for their donations. There will also be a Story Walk. Enjoy reading a wonderful book while surrounded by the beauty of spring. The gorgeous view is well worth the 3.5-mile hike up Mt. Wantastiquet.
Mountain Day is one of several projects led by community members to encourage physical activity and healthy lifestyles in the Brattleboro area. The event provides a perfect opportunity to get out and be active with family and friends, while enjoying Vermont’s long-awaited spring.
