In the summer of 2003, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and its HMO affiliate, The Vermont Health Plan, kicked off the Eat Smart Vermont™ program. The campaign promotes healthy eating habits and makes dining out a healthy experience.

Participating restaurants from around the state offer a healthy alternative or special on their menu. The restaurants list their wholesome meals on special table tents or dry erase boards. Establishments that take advantage of these tools are listed in an Eat Smart Vermont directory, in newsletters and on the BCBSVT web site.
