What does this mean for my small business?
If you employ 50 or fewer full-time employees and you choose to offer health insurance coverage, you must purchase coverage on the exchange upon your plan’s next renewal on or after January 1, 2014.
What are my options if I choose to offer group coverage?
As a small business owner, you can choose to either: a) select one insurance company and allow your employees to choose any exchange plan offered by that company or b) you can allow employees to select any plan offered on the exchange by any insurance company.
In both instances, you will need to specifiy the contribution you will make.
What are the details of the small business tax credit. Do I qualify?
If you have up to 25 full time employees, pay average annual wages below $50k, and provide health insurance, you may qualify for a small business tax credit…
Can my employees get a tax credit if I offer coverage?
No, tax credits are only available to those in the individual market.
What if I have employees who reside out of state?
You can allow those employees to purchase on the exchanges that serve the region where their primary worksite is located, or you can offer them coverage through Vermont Health Connect.
