SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE REPORT
March 8, 2005

Health Care Hearing
This coming Thursday, March 10 from 7 to 10 PM there will be a public hearing at the State House on health care. This hearing is being called by the House Committee on Health Care, chaired by representative John Tracy (D, Burlington) and the Senate Heath and Welfare Committee, chaired by Senator Jim Leddy (D, Burlington). The focus of the hearing will be “The Vermont Health Care System: What should reform accomplish.”

This hearing is being held to solicit testimony from the general public concerning what people think the health care system in Vermont should look like. Each speaker will be allowed three minutes to testify. We expect there will be a significant number of single payer advocates and others who will use this as a platform to voice support for their particular “reform” idea. However, all perspectives are welcome and encouraged to participate.

It is important that the legislature hears from all voices regarding the future of health care
in Vermont. If you cannot attend, you may send in your thoughts via e-mail to the Chairs
of each of the Committees.
