Sales and Service Representative

The sales & service representative is the primary liaison between BCBSVT and its brokers, employer groups, associations and individuals. The sales & service representative's efforts include maintaining a  positive, supportive and pro-active relationship with the brokers, employer groups and associations to capture and renew their business. The sales & service representative is a member of a sales and service team designed to meet the unique needs of its clients. As team members, sales & service representatives handle incoming hone calls to the sales representatives and account managers on each team. All representatives on all teams function in an internal office rotation to triage incoming phone calls for the entire sales & service department. The sales & service representative may be assigned the duties of responding to RFPs, renewal and proposal requests or assembling the information needed for a new group implementation or renewal. This position includes travel alone or with an account manager or sales representative to support implementation and renewal activity, such as open enrollment or pre-enrollment presentations.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care financing and delivery system, including contracts, rating mechanisms, enrollment requirements, competition and legislation
  • Thorough familiarity with the state and federal laws that affect our products and their use
  • Solid understanding of financial arrangements and funding mechanisms, including fully insured, cost-plus and community rated funding
  • Thorough understandings of broker expectations and attitudes
  • Computer skills - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Communication skills - Excellent oral and written communication skills, excellent presentation skills

Education/Professional License Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Three years experience in HMO or health insurance sales, marketing or marketing-related duties required
  • Current Vermont license in Life, Accident and Health or ability to earn license
  • Valid Vermont driver's license with good driving record
    Willingness to travel occasionally through Vermont and New England as necessary 
     

Director, Treasury
Excellent opportunity for a seasoned finance professional to join our finance division as director of treasury. The director leads the treasury team in the administration of all investment activities of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and its affiliates. Additional responsibilities include developing cash flow forecasting models, analyzing cash position and preparing cash flow analysis for both the short and long range and assisting in developing investment management strategies and their execution. The director performs research into investment and cash management practices and recommends related actions designed to enhance the profitability of the Corporation and is responsible for corporate insurance and leasing programs.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge of cash management
  • Knowledge of short- and long-term investing
  • Experience with receivables management
  • Strong knowledge of cash flow forecasting, modeling and analysis
  • Proven leadership skills 

Education/Professional License Requirements

  • BS or BA in Finance or Business Administration

Product Manager
As product manager, you will be responsible for identifying, designing, implementing and supporting new product opportunities and product enhancements within Blue Cross and Blue Shield's group product lines. You will also manage the performance of the products, including managing cross-functional teams, communicating at all levels of the organization as well as with external customers and managing related process improvement cycles.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Seven to ten years of professional experience, including five to seven in the health insurance industry
  • Background in operations, product development, underwriting or medical services
  • Strong project management skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Work well independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge or process improvement methodologies

Education/Professional License Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field

Senior Accountant
This position is responsible for providing professional accounting support to a variety of financial functions for the Plan, including monthly financial statement reporting and analysis, cost accounting, budgeting and variance analysis and tax compliance. Conducts and reports on a variety of analyses concerning financial and tax-related matters.

  • Advanced skills in cost and general accounting theory and practice
  • Advanced skills in budget development and management and in corporate tax accounting practice
  • Advanced ability in Microsoft Office applications

Education/Professional License Requirements

Project Manager / Business Analyst
This position provides project management services to various business and system projects of a highly complex nature.  Assembles a project team, assigns individual responsibilities, identifies appropriate resources required, and develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports. The Project Manager/Business Analyst organizes and leads business unit members of project teams to identify and document needs, requirements and user test plans, and leads users through execution of user acceptance testing.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficient in all aspects of MS Office suite, and in MS project and related PM tools.  Basic knowledge of UML and BPM tools

Inter-Plan Programs Supervisor
This position has responsibility for the daily operation and supervision of the Inter-Plan Claims Department, which is primarily responsible for processing Inter-Plan claims within the Company. The Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to unit staff; assuring all inquiries receive prompt, accurate, and courteous responses; that all claims are processed timely and accurately; and that all performance standards set for the unit are met.
 
Skills and Knowledge

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to run ad-hoc reports using claim processing system data.    
  • Strong ability to examine and document work processes, identify and recommend improvements in efficiency and effectiveness, and build procedures to ensure that successful results will be replicated.
  • Strong ability to review project plans, write business requirements, project the impact of projects, create positive and negative testing scenarios, and document output.  
  • Advanced communication skills with the ability to communicate independent decisions clearly and confidently.   
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to address and resolve conflicts. Proficient at making independent decisions based on written procedures, departmental standards, and good judgment.
