ELIGIBILITY
Health Insurance
Choice Of:
  • The Vermont Freedom Plan (PPO Plan)
  • BlueCare (HMO Plan)
  • HSA BlueCare (high deductible HMO plan paired with a health savings account.
Employees who obtain health insurance as a dependent from another employer and who waive our group health insurance benefit will receive a taxable monthly payment of $60.
First of the month following date of employment
Dental Insurance
  • 100% Diagnostic and Preventative
  • 80% Restorative, Oral Surgery, Endodontics, Periodontics, Denture repair and palliative Treatment
  • 50% Prosthodontics
  • $25.00 deductible per person per contract year with a maximum of $75.00 per family
  • Orthodontics at 50% with a $1,250.00 lifetime maximum
First of the month following 3 full months of employment
Combined Time Off
  • 0 - 9 years of service, 24 days (192 hours)
  • 10 -19 years of service, 29 days (232 hours)
  • 20 - 24 years of service, 34 days (272 hours)
  • Over 25 years of service, 39 days (312 hours)
  • Maximum accrual- Not more than twice yearly accrual
After 3 months

401(k) Retirement Program
Employee contributes between 1% and 50% (in whole percents) of pre-tax salary up to the IRS maximum. BCBSVT will match 60% of each dollar contributed, up to the first 6% of eligible compensation.

Pension
Vesting after 5 years. Normal retirement age is 65; however, there are provisions for early or late retirement. Several methods of payment. Integrated with Social Security benefits, taking into account salary and years of credited service.
Jan. 1 or July 1 (whichever comes first) following 1 full year of employment and 21st birthday.
Life Insurance & Accidental Death
Coverage for 2 times annual base salary rounded up to the next thousand, not to exceed $750,000.
Coverage is guaranteed issue and does not require medical underwriting by questionnaire or physical exam. (Limitations applied to certain situations or diseases.)

Dependent Life Insurance
Coverage for dependents can be purchased with a payroll deduction. Coverage is as follows:
  • $10,000 spouse/$2,000 child(ren)
  • $20,000 spouse/$5000 child(ren)
  • $50,000 spouse/$5,000 child(ren)
First of the month following 6 full months of employment
Short-Term Disability
Covered for physician-approved accident and illness disabilities on the 15th consecutive day at 66 2/3 of salary, up to a maximum of $500 per week. Remainder may be supplemented with sick time at the employee’s option.

Long-Term Disability
Payment of 50% of monthly compensation commences after 6 months of disability, if approved. Benefits are subject to conditions listed in the policy such as doctors’ statement, submitting medical evidence and/or test results specific to your condition and application for Social Security benefits.

Tuition Reimbursement
75% of tuition and 50% of books, after successful completion and documentation of payment and grade of C or better. Some fees are not reimbursed.
Two classes per semester may be approved for reimbursement, not to exceed 6 classes per calendar year. Company reserves right to use discretion in approving individual courses or degree programs.

BCBSVT employees can take advantage of discounted rates at two local fitness clubs, Body Tech and First in Fitness.
Downtown Barre’s Body Tech has excellent strength training, cardio and locker room facilities, and offers club membership to BCBSVT employees at a corporate rate.
Located in Berlin, First in Fitness offers club membership to BCBSVT employees at a corporate rate. All new BCBSVT employees are offered a free trial week membership. If you decide to join at the end of the trial week, your initiation fee will be waived. Membership fees can be paid conveniently through payroll deduction.
