Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont Caring for Children Foundation, Inc.
The Vermont Caring Foundation is a new charitable, non-profit foundation formed by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont, created to advance and improve health-related programs in Vermont, focusing on those that benefit children and teenagers in Vermont.
Principles
 | | | | | | • | The Foundation seeks to fulfill its mission by raising and distributing funds to support local programs whose primary purpose is health education, prevention, research, promotion and/or improvement.
| | • | The Foundation believes it can best sustain its mission by annually designating 4 to 5 percent of its assets for grant spending and administrative expenses.
| | • | In order to support the broadest possible array of programs, the Foundation gives preference to grant applications from community-based Vermont organizations.
| | • | Preference also is given to those programs that have the most significant impact on the greatest number of Vermonters, consistent with the mission.
| | • | The Foundation encourages applicants to use Foundation grants for leveraged fundraising through matching or challenge grants, whenever possible
| Applications for grants from the Foundation will be reviewed by the Foundation's seven-member Board of Directors, all of whom are Vermonters. For information on applying for a Vermont Caring Foundation grant, please read about the process and download an application.
