Vermont Health Services Group (VHSG)

The Vermont Health Services Group (VHSG) sponsors Blue Cross and Blue Shield health plan coverage for its members plus raises funds for non‑profit programs involved in health improvement for children and teenagers. VHSG offers a full array of health plans that feature comprehensive coverage, extensive provider networks and decision support tools for members.  VHSG is governed and operated directly by small business associations, and membership in one of these associations is required:

  • Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR)
  • Vermont Grocers’ Association (VGA)
  • Vermont Medical Society (VMS)
  • Vermont Retail Association (VRA)
  • Vermont Veterinary Medical Association (VVMA)

Vermont Businesses for Social Responsibility (VBSR) is a non-profit, statewide trade organization founded in 1990 by a group of business-people who believe companies have as much responsibility to workers, communities and the environment as they do to being financially successful. Over 650 businesses representing all sectors of the Vermont economy belong to VBSR.

The Vermont Grocers' Association (VGA) is a statewide trade association representing all sectors of the Vermont food industry. Approximately 670 stores belong to the organization, including supermarkets, superettes, convenience and country stores along with suppliers to the industry.  The Vermont Grocers’ Association is a networking alliance of merchants, retailers and suppliers organized to serve the educational, economic and Legislative needs of its members.  Associate Membership is open to manufacturers, wholesalers, brokers, service providers and others interested in the services of the association.  A special introductory annual membership rate of $120 is available to all VHSG group members.

The Vermont Medical Society (VMS) has been providing services to Vermont physicians for more than 200 years. Along with providing assistance, information, and lobbying services on legislative and regulatory matters, the VMS offers its members a host of personal and professional services.  VMS members enjoy access to a broad array of services and benefits that help them practice medicine more effectively and run their practices more efficiently, including group health insurance such as traditional comprehensive plans as well as high-deductible health plans in conjunction with a Health Savings Account, and over 65 retirement plans.  Membership is offered to practicing or retired doctors of medicine or osteopathy with a Vermont license.  A special introductory annual membership rate is available to all VHSG group members.  New members will receive free membership for 2010, a 50% discount for 2011, and a 25 percent discount for 2012.

VRA

For 40 years, the Vermont Retail Association (VRA) has been taking good care of businesses in Vermont, establishing a tradition of trusted service and dependable support.  The Vermont Retail Association was founded in 1968 by some of Vermont's leading retailers to promote and protect the interests of, and provide money-saving services to, members throughout the state. The VRA’s membership includes a broad range of retailers and other businesses associated with the retail sector.  A special introductory annual membership rate of $120 is available to all VHSG group members.
