Provider Relations Consultant
The Provider Relations Consultant serves as the primary liaison between Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont and the broad provider community, including ancillary providers; acute, tertiary and psychiatric facilities; home health and skilled nursing facilities; multi-specialty clinic practices and Physician Hospital Organizations.. The Provider Relations Consultant supports both the Plan’s policy directives and the provider’s contractual obligations while maintaining a credible and respectful relationship.
The Provider Relations Consultant maintains positive working relationships between the Plan and its service providers by interacting effectively with all levels of the provider organization including physicians, clerical personnel, management personnel, executive staff of hospitals and health organizations. The Provider Relations Consultant provides feedback from providers to departments throughout BCBSVT, and works with internal Plan departments to resolve problems and answer questions on behalf of the provider community.
The Provider Relations Consultant works primarily through personal contact with the provider community, and travels up to 50% of the time in an assigned geographic territory.
- BS/BA required
- 3-5 years of experience in managed care or related field
- Knowledge of medical coding desirable
